Three Lady Wildcats Sign Athletic Scholarships

CENTRAL — Three Lady Wildcats from Central High School accepted scholarships last week to continue their academic and athletic careers at the collegiate level.

Rachel Barber and Brisha Coffee will play volleyball at University of Mobile and Alcorn State, respectively.  Kristen Williams will be a member of the Southeastern Lady Lions basketball team.

Rachel Barber received four varsity letters in volleyball during her years at Central High.  She was a three-time selection to the All-District Team.  She was named the Defensive MVP for the Lady Wildcats, as well as Defensive Player of the Year in the District.

Rachel finished her career by being named the Female Athlete of the Year at Central High School.  Academically, she is on the Honor Roll and is recognized as a Top Cat, which is based on grade point average.  She will major in biology at the University of Mobile.

Brisha Coffee was an important part of the Lady Wildcat Volleyball program her four years at Central, especially in the school’s playoff runs.  She will major in biology at Alcorn State University.

Kristen Williams was a key member of the Lady Wildcat basketball program during her four years at Central.  She was named to the All-Parish Team, All-District teams as a junior and senior, and All-Academic teams during her junior and senior seasons.  She is involved in many activities, including DECA, Key Club, African American Club of which she serves as president, Student Council, and Leadership Committee.  Kristen is on the Honor Roll and is recognized as a Top Cat.  She will major in nursing at Southeastern Louisiana University.
