Central to Face No. 1 St. Paul’s in Playoffs Friday Night

CENTRAL — Central schools Athletic Director Sid Edwards announced Sunday that the Central Wildcats will face No. 1 St. Paul’s of Covington in Round One of the State 5A Playoffs.

Central (6-4) won the District 4-5A Championship Friday night at Live Oak.  It will travel to St. Paul’s (10-0), which is at the top of the Louisiana Sports Writers Association poll and also No. 1 in the Louisiana High School Athletic Association power ratings.

The game will begin at 7 p.m. this Friday night, Nov. 11 at St. Paul’s field in Covington.

Central head Coach Doug Dotson said he was pleased to be playing St. Paul’s.  “We’ve played each other before and are familiar with their team.  They have a great team, but we are going there to win.”

By playing the No. 1 team in the state, Central will be getting a lot of media attention this week.

Coach Dotson said it will be a “white-out” night for Central, and the school will be selling white T-shirts for $15 at school this week.

Coach Edwards urged Central fans to travel to Covington to support the team.  He recommends leaving no later than 5 p.m., in order to be there in time for the game.
