Central LEAPs to No. 2
Zachary No. 1, EBR at No. 48 In Assessment Of Students
BATON ROUGE — The Louisiana Department of Education announced the results of the LEAP and iLEAP tests for the spring semester, and students of the Central Community School System have vaulted to the No. 2 position in the state, just behind No. 1-ranking Zachary. The tests compare the knowledge of 3rd graders through 8th graders in Louisiana’s 70 public school districts.
Zachary scored 89, and Central scored 86. See Page 5 for district-by-district results.
The East Baton Rouge Parish school system again fared poorly, ranking No. 48 in the state. Its score was 62, an increase of two points. However, the parish’s score did not include the scores of failing schools in the parish. If those scores were included, the score of EBR would be much lower.
It was a triumph for Central schools, which began in 2007.
