29th St. Jude Bike-A-Thon Saturday

ST. Now Through End of May • Art Exhibit

The Greenwell Springs Library is hosting the “Art League of Central: A Retrospective.”  The Central community is invited to come and see a variety of paintings, drawings, and carvings by members of the Art League and works of senior students from Central High and Central Private.

May 10 and 11 • School House Rock, Live! Jr. • 7 p.m.

Central Middle School Talented Music and Theatre presents School House Rock, Live! Jr. at the Central High School Theatre.  Tickets are $5 for students and $8 for adults.  Tickets can be purchased at the Central Middle School office or at the door.

Saturday, May 12 • 10th Annual Zoar Car Show • 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The 10th Annual Car Show will be held at Zoar Baptist Church.  Vehicle pre-registration is $15 which includes lunch.  Vehicle registration fee day of car show is $20 which includes lunch.  Trophies and awards will be given for all classes and categories.  Free admission, free food, and door prizes.

May 14 through 16 • Homeschoolers EOG Testing

Monday, May 14 • Heart Failure Education Program • 10 a.m. to 12 noon

Lane Regional Medical Center will hold a free education and support program for congestive heart failure patients and their caregivers.  Registration is required and seating is limited.  Call 654-5263.

Thursday, May 17 • Central Backers Crawfish Boil • 4:30 to 7 p.m.

Thursday, May 17 • Power Up Safely!  A Night of Internet Safety • 6:30 p.m.

“Power Up Safely!” will feature topics on Internet safety, social networking, online solicitation of minors, and cyber-bullying.  The event is sponsored by the Central Community School System and the CCSS Title I Department and will be held in the Central High Theatre.

Friday, May 18 • Red, White, & You Blood Drive • 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

United Blood Services will hold a blood drive at Lane Regional Medical Center.  Donors are encouraged to sign up online at www.bloodhero.com, sponsor code: LaneRegional.

Saturday, May 19 • Missions Golf Tournament • 8 a.m.

Comite Baptist Church will have a Homecoming — Missions Golf Tournament.  Four man scramble, $45 person/$180 team.  Open to everyone.  Proceeds benefit Children’s Summer Mission Camps.  For information, call 275-3382.

Tuesday, May 22 • “Ask the Doctor” • 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Dr. Joshua Best, an OB/Gyn with Bayou Regional Women’s Clinic will discuss effective treatment for the symptoms of menopause during the “Ask the Doctor” Lunch and Learn session Lane Regional Medical Center.  Advance reservations are required by call 654-5263.  The session is free and includes a light lunch.

May 25 and 26 • St. Pius X Garage Sale

St. Pius X Catholic Church is having a Garage Sale at the Activity Center, 6380 Hooper Road, Friday, May 25, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Saturday, May 26, 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.  Plenty of items: household goods, toys, and furniture.  No clothes or shoes.

May 28 through 30 • Wildcat Baseball Camp • 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Wildcat Baseball Camp will be held at Central High baseball field for boys ages 7 through 14.  The camp will focus on hitting, bunting, fielding, sliding, throwing, base running, ground ball technique, and fly ball technique.  Cost is $100 and includes three days of instruction and a camp T-shirt.  To pre-register contact Mike Forbes at 270-2674.

Tuesday, June 5 • Billy Cannon/Dalton Jones Golf Scramble & Social • 8 a.m.
